Sudbury Labour attends Sudbury Town Residents’ Assocation’s ‘Great Plastic Pick-up’ on 12 May 2018

We were proud to support STRA in their ‘Great Plastic Pick-up’ on 12 May, where we helped clear dozens of bags’ worth of litter from Sudbury’s streets.

On Saturday 12 May, we were delighted to attend Sudbury Town Residents’ Association’s ‘Great Plastic Pick-up’ – part of the Daily Mail’s national campaign to reduce the amount of plastic in our streets.

A range of local organisations were also there including the Police Cadets, the Sudbury Police team and the North West London Seventh Day Adventists, making for an extremely well-attended event.

Sudbury has made great strides over the years in combating litter and illegal dumping, thanks in no small part to the efforts of community groups like STRA. But as your local Labour councillors, we’re under no illusion that much more needs to be done, and we have made tackling this a key priority in our 2018-2022 term of office.

We’ll continue to support community litter-picks and report illegal dumping and litter problems across the ward. We undertake regular patrols across Sudbury to identify problems, but please get in touch with us directly if you want to report any issues you see.

Likewise, if you’d like to set-up your own community litter-picking event in Sudbury, let us know – Veolia will provide you with all the equipment you need, and we’ll pop along too to help you with litter-picking.
